| It's about time! After four destitute attempts at
photographing the comet, I finally got my chance tonight. All in all,
January 10th was
one heck of a day! I left work around 4:40, got to my destination about
4:50. My buddy Joel met me there soon after and we started scanning the
skies.
The wind was blustery and cold but we still stuck it out. Ten minutes
went
by with nothing coming into sight. I was starting to get pretty ticked
off.
I kept scanning the horizon with my binoculars over and over again,
trying
to estimate where the comet should be. Then, by some stroke of luck, I
happened to "glance" over something that looked unusually bright and
oddly shaped. I quickly set the binocs back to that position and sure
enough, there it
was! I ran to the truck, slapped on the window mount, attached the
300mm
and started firing away. Ahh, sweet relief. I shot quite a few shots
(total
count unknown) as it neared the horizon at different exposure settings.
Some
of the pictures below were slightly touched up in
post-processing. |
