Comet McNaught is being a tricky little thing. This was my third attempt at photographing it, but once again my attempt was thwarted by cloud cover. I woke up at 6 a.m. and got all my stuff ready for work and set out the door. There actually wasn't too many clouds in the sky when I first set off, but when I finally got to my destination, sure enough a thick band came strolling in. So, no comet once again. Time is running out and I may only have one or two more cracks at it. Hopefully tonight I will be able to see it.

However, I was treated to an AWESOME sunrise instead. This was one of the neatest dawns I have ever witnessed. Even though I like the pictures, I would think an expensive setup like mine would have taken much better shots than this. I was actually mildly disappointed in the quality. I was using the window mount again and I noticed halfway through the shots that the camera itself had somehow jarred loose. I'm thinking maybe the when the mirror "slaps" up it might have wrenched it just a tad each time until it was able to create camera shake on every shot. Anyway, I was still happy to see this with my own eyes. I just wish the pictures would have turned out better.

After realizing that I was NOT going to get any shots of McNaught, I finally drove on thinking I was going to just head on straight to work. Not more than two minutes after the last picture above and driving in my truck, the sun rose just enough to turn the skies absolutely BRILLIANT. I really need to wake up early in the morning more often. This was quite a sight. This is my usual spot on the back road I have taken many a photo before, but instead facing the opposite way. So, even though McNaught was not captured AGAIN, I still settled for this sunrise. It was just awesome.
