Small
write-up since I haven't done anything for a while. These are just some
random pics from 2010 that a.) either didn't warrant an entire account
or b.) didn't really think was good enough at the time. That or I was
disappointed with pics after I came home and never did anything with
them. Anyway, here are some with little captioning.
These
were from a shoot that I did for a local distillery. This was the first
photo "mission" that I had ever been on. I find it's a little harder to
go out and get images when there is an assignment at hand. Still had
fun! It was something different anyway. This farmer was extremely
helpful in me getting my shot.
Weak anti-crespecular rays at sunset. These were seen on the eastern
horizon, with the sun setting on the western (behind me) as they
usually are.
June
23rd. A tornadic cell was slowly approaching the Quad Cities with a
nice hook on radar. I flew solo on this one, can't remember why. I was
actually getting very excited over seeing something on this chase. It
was a right mover and showed constant signatures. Of course, by the
time I caught up to the southwestern portion, it had gone 100% outflow
dominant, as all QC storms usually do. It did, however, carry some very
nice winds with it. I finally gave up on it in Orion.
Sheer
boredom this night. This sort of shows an idea that I've had in my mind
for years now, but has never come to fruition. Imagine that twilight
with lightning streaking overhead, over the interstate. Sure enough,
when I stormed up the idea, other chasers/photographers beat me to the
punch!
My buddy
Joel Wright and I went on an early morning fishing excursion here with
this foggy sunrise. Just happened to have the camera.
This
night was a HUGE dud. I saw storms firing in northern IL, but the tops
looks relatively high. Normally I can see them plain as day from my
location, cg's and all. Not the case this night. I was pretty
disappointed after this. I took about 8 pics and set for home.
August
10th sunset mammatus and lightning later. This night was another
not-so-pleasing outing. I remember just not being into it that night.
I'm not really sure why. I probably could have pulled off some
better shots, but my location along with frequency of lightning put the
kabash on it for me.
Wedding
rehearsal night! This was August 13th, before heading to the church for
my wedding rehearsal. This storm was very weak, but man it had a sweet
stacked shelf!
Followed
by a nice sunset mammatus show as the storm departed.
New puppy
Wrigley. Yes, after Wrigley Field. My wife (in the blurred background)
and I walked the LeClaire shoreline as I did some photography for the
Distillery and brought our new puppy with. In fact, we had just bought
him that SAME day. Weighed 1 lb lol.
Bad year
for atmo optics for me. I hardly looked. I just happened to see this
coming home from something. Start of a parhelic circle there also.
My wife, being the HUGE spider
lover she is, called me and freaked out over this thing on our back
door. I will admit, she was huge! I've never seen this type of spider
around here. We ended up putting it on a cabbage leaf in the garden and
took the pic.
