Same bird in both of the above, but they were both in focus,
sooo......Yeah, I've been having issues with focus again. It started
late last year and apparently the lens is still having some sporatic
problems.
More of what I want, but still happening pretty far out on the water.
The only thing I hate about bald eagle season....convergence. Why do
all of my hobbies always contain an extreme gathering of people? I need
to get into knitting or something. This wasn't nearly all the cars that
were at the dam. This is shot at 17mm with the entire parking lot full
to the right and left of the camera too. I'm not too keen on shooting
with people surrounding me. I guess it's just sort of a weird pet
peeve.
The rest of the images are all from the same day. This outing was
excellent, one of the best I've ever had. Other than the perfect sharp,
cold weather, there were some out of towners that brought buckets full
of dead fish with them. Everything worked out perfect today, even the
lens.
One of the only bad things was they
were all coming down for fish right out in front of us, so keeping the
zoom on the birds as they would come down was starting to get a little
tricky. Most of these shots were somewhere around 100-200mm.
A little late pulling the
trigger on this one. The one part tht really sucked about today was the
bitter cold was just killing my extremeties. I could only have my hands
out of my pockets (with thin gloves so I could still operate the
camera) for about 5 minutes before I couldn't move them anymore. There
were literally about 100 eagles from extreme left to extreme right, so
the action was nonstop. I actually missed quite a few fights and
flights because it was so cold.
One of
my favorites from the day. Very sharp full size too.
Juvenile
coming in for some lunch. The action was NUTS. I never knew which
direction to point the camera. I was afraid if I tried for one coming
in for a fish, I'd miss a fight between two to my left of one coming in
from overhead with a fish in its talons. It was just the right day to
be out.
