5-24-07

This first video I talked about back on the 5-06-07 entry. This one was from the Greensburg, Kansas damage traveling south on 183. A little ways after we crossed 400/54, the damage swath began. It was quite incredible. This is more than likely the very last time we'll ever see F5 damage in our lives. What an incredible experience. Before this, we also ran into a nice little hail storm and also witnessed some more damage from either the same tornado apparently hooked hard to the northwest after leveling Greensburg. The tornado's path is actually a bit controversial, but one thing is certain...we definitely saw it at it's worst.

After witnessing that incredible damage, we ventured on southward in chase of a MDT outlook. Things quickly turned into a linear mess but did produce a nice shelf cloud. We decided to bag the day and set off for Texas. After a brief stop to photograph an awesome sunset with lightning, we drove straight into a pretty insane hail storm. We are guessing at least golf balls, but some of those stones sounded like they were much bigger. Anyway, this was sort of a white knuckled experience to say the least. It was followed by a picture perfect lightning bolt at the end of the clip.
