  FORECAST ARCHIVE: 6/7/2008

Forecast: 6-7-08

Saturday could be yet another great chase day for many across the midwest and plains.  After today's action shifted east out of the mississippi valley and plains, the hot zone will shift back to the west by tomorrow.

Even though the deep moisture was shunted east today, it will quickly rebound later tonight and especially during the day on Saturday.  Most models pool surface dewpoints as high as the mid-70s by afternoon.  Insolation will allow temps to push 90 as well across much of Iowa.  This should make for some very good instability and "fat" hodographs.  Capping doesn't look to be too much of an issue either.  Very strong winds will blow through Iowa again tomorrow, with gusts over 40mph possible out in open areas.  Especially in central Iowa.

Low level SRH isn't progged to be all that impressive, but there should still be enough wind shear to allow for some rotating updrafts.  Any discrete cell that can stay isolated, and decide to take a hard right turn will increase all the above quite substantially.  Very common for that to happen this time of the season.

If we chase, we'll likely be heading to wherever the best windshear coincides with the broiling instability.  Based off of the early morning runs that'd take us up to west of Waterloo to between Mason City and Des Moines.  Probably right around Iowa Falls.  Of course, with two main model runs to come yet, this could shift around a bit.
